Declaration of Human Responsibilities

A Universal Declaration of Human Responsibilities

Richard Bryant-Jefferies

The following has been drafted in order to promote discussion and awareness of human responsibility. It is intended to complement the focus presently placed on 'rights'. We offer you these points for consideration. We would

like to encourage you to inform others of this page who you believe will be interested in the idea of establishing a Universal Declaration of Human Responsibilities.

  • Every person has a responsibility to behave in ways which actively foster, and do not threaten, the well-being of other human-beings
  • Every person has a responsibility to behave in ways which actively foster, and do not threaten, the well-being of the planetary eco-system
  • Every person has a responsibility to respect diversity and individuality whilst working to encourage the co-operative spirit
  • Every person has a responsibility to strive towards realising their fullest potential as a human being
  • Every person has a responsibility to encourage others to strive towards realising their fullest potential as a human being

I have included a chapter on this topic in my book, The Jigsaw of Life.

The above Declaration has been translated into other languages and I am hopeful that it can be translated into more languages (see listing to the left) and publicised.
